There’s Even Nutgrass at the Capital!

The Capital looks great on a bright summer day.....

I recently spent a few days in our nation’s capital at Washington D.C. I was one of several hundred members representing the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) who voluntered our time to do lawncare at the Arlington National Cemetary. Some of us also spent a day vistiting with some of our Congresmen and Senators concerning issures which affect our business. I was pleased to be able to visit with both of our Oklahoma Senators, both of whom were very receptive and understanding of our challenges.

We also did some sightseeing, and took a picture of the capital building on a beauful summer morning. Upon close inspection, you’ll notice that even the grounds at the Capital is infested with Nutgrass. Now you may be concerned about some of the nutty ideas being talked about in Washington, but I was concerned about the Nutgrass also. It’s everywhere! I wanted to spray it with Dismiss, our high-powered nutgrass herbicide, but wasn’t quite set up to do so.

But the trained eye of a lawncare guy exposes all the Nutgrass!

My wife and I enjoyed our time in Washington, and left proud of being an American. I’m grateful that in spite of challenges, we have the opportunity to lead a growing and profitable business, providing a great service, and one that makes an impact on our community. It’s a great county! Just wish we had a LawnAmerica in Washington D.C. to help with the Nutgrass there.

Nutgrass has been a challenge in controlling this season in Tulsa lawns again.  Having the extra treatment of Echelon Herbicide in last spring really helps, for those on our 7-Step Showcase Care Program.  It will tend to disappear naturally as we get into September, as most other summer annuals do.
