Lawn Insect Control

At any given time, insects of almost every description can be found as part of the typical turfgrass environment. Those that feed on turf rarely reach populations great enough to cause serious injury. Many insects are actually beneficial to turfgrass, helping in the decomposition of organic matter and serving as a vital part of the food chain. We offer many insect control services that can take care of almost any problem in your lawn.

Mole Patrol

Moles continue to be a severe problem in many Tulsa area landscapes and lawns, so we are adding another bullet in our holster in an attempt to battle them. We currently have a Mole Control Program, where our Technicians scout the lawn for moles every time we do a regular lawn care treatment, up to 6 or 7 times per season. If moles are active, we’ll set up to 5 Talpirid mole baits into the active tunnels, and follow-up with a service call in about 2-3 weeks to set more baits if needed. In many cases, we’ve been able to control mole activity with this service, but in other lawns, it seems we are still fighting a losing battle.

Core Aeration

Core aeration is one of the most important cultural practices available for your lawn. Our aeration equipment removes thousands of small cores of soil from your lawn that are 2 inches deep and 4-5 inches apart. These cores will gradually dissolve back into the thatch, while leaving small holes for turf roots to grow back into.

Save Time, Mow Less With Primo Maxx

Primo MAXX is designed for use on all forms of turf to reduce the frequency of mowing and the amount of grass clippings through reducing the growth of turfgrasses.

Soil Testing

In order for your turf to respond correctly to fertilizers, a proper soil pH is needed. We strive to maintain a pH somewhere between the 5.8–7.2 range, with 6.5 being ideal. The only way to identify if your soil pH is ideal or not is through a soil test.

Liquid SuperSoil Aeration

SuperSoil is an environmentally-friendly liquid polymer with a strong negative charge that forces itself down into the soil, expanding and uncoiling, aerating your lawn and removing sodium from the soil. Because of its positive charge (and clay’s negative charge) sodium can contribute greatly to soil compaction and can also prevent your grass from using the nutrients in the soil.

The result is a well-aerated lawn that uses water and fertilizer much better, giving you a greener, more lush lawn with a stronger, deeper root system. Try SuperSoil and see the difference it makes this summer!!

Turf Disease Control

Turf diseases are usually cased by different fungi, many of which favor warm, humid, wet weather. We can also design a custom preventative fungicide program, where we apply two fungicides during the time when turf disease is more likely to occur in your area.

See our page on lawn diseases for more information or schedule a treatment.

Cool-Season Grass Seeding

Overseeding or complete renovation is important in fescue, bluegrass, and ryegrass lawns. Cool-season grasses are clump-type grasses. Therefore, when they thin out due to disease, insects, summer heat, etc, they need to be re-seeded in order to establish a thick turf. Most cool-season grasses do not spread out and recover like warm-season turf. In most cases, seeding is best done in early to mid-fall.

Weed-Control in Ornamental Beds

We can apply a special granular pre-emergent called Snapshot into your flower and shrub beds in early spring and early fall to help prevent many grassy and some broadleaf weeds from germinating. This will not control nutgrass and other sedges however. During the summer, we also apply a special liquid product called Fusilade, which takes grassy weeds such as crabgrass and even bermudagrass out of beds. With a 3 or 4-step Bed Weed-Control Program, we can really decrease the amount of hand weeding necessary in keeping weeds out of your shrub beds. Proper mulch levels are also important in preventing weeds in beds. Schedule a treatment.

Perimeter Pest Control

We can prevent many insect pests from entering your home with this important service. At the same time we do a regular lawn treatment, we can apply a band of both liquid and granular insecticide around the entire perimeter of your home. The liquid treatment is also sprayed up along the foundation, along door and window entrances, and other possible openings in your home. Although not perfect, if this treatment is done consistently, it will prevent many bugs from bugging you! Many customers will have us do this service 3-4 times during summer and into fall, when insects can be more of a problem. Schedule a treatment.
